Maastricht University (UM) is the most international university in the Netherlands, and considered one of the best young universities in the world. The university stands out for its innovative education model, international character and multidisciplinary approach to research and education. One of the noticeable research institutes at the faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at the UM is the school for Mental Health and Neurosciences. MHeNS has its niche in the complex interplay between basic brain mechanisms, brain/neurocognitive function and psychopathology, with emphasis on prevalent psychiatric, neuropsychiatric and neurological conditions.
The Alzheimer Center Limburg (ACL) and Expertise Center of Brain Injury Limburg, within MHeNS, both have extensive research and practical expertise in the field of dementia, movement disorders, stroke and brain injury.
Furthermore, the group has a large national and international network, and is involved in several ERASMUS+ projects and many other national and international research projects. Besides, MHeNS is involved in several studies on the impact of COVID-19 on the brain, including a Dutch multicenter study on the Neurological and Neuropsychological Sequelae of COVID-19.
Het Alzheimer Centrum Limburg (ACL) en Expertisecentrum Hersenletsel Limburg, binnen MHeNS, hebben beide uitgebreide onderzoeks- en praktijkexpertise op het gebied van dementie, bewegingsstoornissen, beroerte en hersenletsel.
Daarnaast heeft de groep een groot nationaal en internationaal netwerk en is betrokken bij verschillende ERASMUS+ projecten en vele andere nationale en internationale onderzoeksprojecten. Daarnaast is MHeNS betrokken bij verschillende studies naar de impact van COVID-19 op de hersenen, waaronder een Nederlandse multicenter studie naar de Neurologische en Neuropsychologische gevolgen van COVID-19.
